It is good to be aware of how old a thread is before one responds. Sometimes the people have not been active for several years.

from what I understand the 'live forever' is a specific type of sedum.

I am growing several types of sedum now and they are all so neat to watch grow and change with the seasons.

I kill mine routinely...except for the Sedum Palmerii, There were two others that will take Texas but even they need some extra water and shade and rich dirt. I suspect that the sedum that grows on the top of Enchanted rock will stand up to life.

I have several types in the HOT sun. Sedum blue spruce, ogon, dragons blood, tricolor and a couple others. Today it is 90 here and it often gets 100 or more in July and August..its a very dry heat here also. There are some types that I think do need more shade but these are just ones that have done well in the sun for me...sedum blue spruce and sedum tricolor are budding and blooming now.

Oh and sedum ogon is in full bloom also.

It has been above 100 for weeks here, and not much respite at night. The cool nights which we do not get due to the high humidity, is a time where plants get a break. VERY IMPORTANT. The humidity is high here . We are blessed with humidity and no rain.Dragons blood is sold in the stores but it needs a certain amount of coddling.

I got burnt up even when I watered it and I lived intown. I never bought it for out here. Autumn Joy will survive in town for awhile. I do not know the really little ones that I have that survived untill this year.
