We have babies in our pond already!! I'm too excited. It will be about a week before we know if they are gold fish or koi. I cant wait till they get bigger. LOL

Yes, they will eat some of them, some will die, and some will live. That's the way it is in nature. As soon as they get big enough, we take them out of the pond and put them in a fish tank in the house for a year. Give them time to grow a bit. Then the next year, they go back in the pond. The ones from last year are probably 4 or 5 inches long. Maybe a bit bigger than that. But since they went back into the pond this spring, they are really growing. Gold fish are like rabbits, they have way too many babies. LOL The koi, seems like not as many of those survive.

Congrats! I just lost 2 fish - one I found floating today after three days of being missing. The other is still missing and I'm not holding out much hope. Seems sad, I was so excited when I saw them this spring and knew they had made it through the winter.

Awwww GM, I'm so sorry. I know what its like to lose them too. You really do get attached to them. We rescued a baby coon about a month ago and have been caring for him, feeding, water, watching him grow. I know we cant keep him and I tried not getting attached but I love that little thing. It will be hard to let him go but it has to be done. I know I"m gonna cry when he goes. We keep him in a cage right now, until hes big enough to take care of himself, we get him out and play with him and carry him around. Hes just the cutest little bandit. LOL I'm thinking maybe another month and then it will be time for him to go. Not looking forward to it.
