Is This A Bunny Ears Cactus?

I found a few pads on the sidewalk. They had broken off a large cactus. I've looked through many pages of Google images trying to ID it. I'm thinking maybe it's Bunny Ears but the photos of Bunny Ears that I've seen show small pads with white spines. And that description doesn't fit the pads I found.

Here are the details on the pads I found:

*Hair-thin spines are dark orange/red and poke out of every areole in a bunch giving each pad an overall fuzzy appearance.

* One pad measures approximately 6 inches by 4 inches.

* Mature cactus the pads came from is about 5 feet tall with a spread of about 7 feet.

* Shape of mature cactus is similar to the shape of the Bunny Ears cactus [branching with a wide spread].

I have bunny ears & it doesn't look like yours. It's probably a regular prickly pear cactus.

Thanks, TrudyBee!
I did a search for 'prickly pear flat pads red glochids' and came across Opuntia microdasys var. rufida AKA Cinnamon Cactus.

BLAM! IDENTIFIED!

Ooooh, how nice to find those! They were clearly looking for a new home.
I am always casting a sharp eye over the piles of yard "debris" around my neighborhood - you never know when treasures will appear.

Good eye, ohhmye.

Indeed, zuzu! I'm usually on my bike rubbernecking left and right, looking for anything green and interesting and almost riding off the curb.

The Cinnamon Cactus you helped me ID is doing great! It just sprouted a set of very cute "ears".

Plus, I scored a piece of actual Bunny Ears cactus. It's the yellow kind. I walk by a house that has a pot of it growing on top of their perimeter wall. I always stare at it covetously. Recently, I saw a section had broken off. I asked the owner if I could take it, and he said sure.
