holiday cactus needs reviving

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theaterMy mom gave me a holiday cactus that she forgot on the porch and it got down to about 26 degrees. How can I revive it?

Ooops. These things happen sometimes.

I can't see your photo, but if there are soft, freeze-damaged parts of the plant, you will need to remove them, cleaning back to leave only firm, healthy segments, and hopefully the base of the plant is still healthy?

If not, then collect as many "healthy" individual segments as you can and after allowing any fresh cuts to heal over, you can plant them in fresh medium.

Either way, the plant (or salvaged segments) will need to be treated with some extra TLC for a while, as it probably won't be as forgiving as it may have been when it was robust - monitor watering very carefully, no super hot sun exposure, etc.

If the whole thing has gone soft, mushy, and translucent, then there is little hope, and replacement would be the best advice.

**Fingers crossed** Good luck.

If there are some segments that are not too badly damaged, you could try putting them in a sealed plastic Baggie tent with some damp moss or paper towels. I would then place them under fluorescent lights. You may be able to save a few cuttings. Otherwise, it looks like a complete loss.....so sorry.

Well done!
It feels really good to rescue a plant, doesn't it?
And we learn something new every time it happens.
