Oh god now you have really done it. That place has a mythological place in the story of my life. I think it was in Surf city on the ocean side. My grandfather was dying and my mother left me and my 2 sister and brother in the care of a male Artist . 4 kids driving around in an old MG convertible with an artist. The kind with the great headlights, the car, I mean. I had never been as popular with the kids on the beech before. He had been taking care of us for a month when he took us to that trampoline place. I was jumping up and down and flipping and then I started looking at that gap between the net and the ground, just jumping. They were at ground level with pits. I swear, the black space sucked me in, slowly and unavoidably. I broke my arm. We called from the doctors office and I had broken my arm at 7:09. I remember the clock in the trampoline waiting room. That is also the time of death for my grandfather. My timing is not the best. In my mind I felt him leave. Very strange summer hiding mines and trees covered in Butterflies, and watching this guy paint while we ran wild, waiting for someone to die a hundred miles away.

'65, I was 10.
Wow, do you write for a living? That's a strange and beautiful account. Must have been pretty weird for you at the time.. as well as painful.

I wonder if you are the reason there were pads covering the black place when I 1st went. I was never brave enought to flip.

Anyone else get those 50mph winds yesterday? And 3 days of straight rain?
Last night was bring your recyclables to the curb night because they come at the crack of dawn. Almost everyone's bin was knocked over this morning. Trash all up and down our street. I waited 'til after midnight just to let the winds settle down some. Thankfully mine was still standing.

I am so glad I didn't put my wintersown pots out yet. They woulda been goners for sure!

We had freezing rain Tues. night into Wed. which made it interesting driving outside to put it mildly. Now we are having very strong winds and cold temps. Sat. possibility of several inches of snow. I need Springtime!!!! I was worried about putting my Wintersown containers out just yet too Sunny757.

Snow! I don't miss that stuff at all!

I have reading on other forums that people in NY have already put out the WS seeds. And i think they have snow, too. I don't think the snow will hurt 'em but the winds will. So if you have a way to protect 'em they should be fine. Maybe a shed?

Keep me updated on how you do w/ WSing. This is my first time trying it. What have you done so far? I have

Gaillardia
morning glory
hollyhock
sweet william
tritoma
poppies
sweet pea
snap dragon
nasturtium
columbine
four o clocks
and delphiniums done so far.

Good call,NJCWGRL, on moving your truck. Better safe than sorry.
I was checking the mail 2 days ago and we have the mailboxes that are all next to each other in a row, and as I was checking it 2 big 'ol branches just fell out of the tree. If I woulda been at the next mailbox I woulda been cluncked on the head. Well, they weren't THAT big but at least 2 feet long each. It was literally inches from where I was standing.

Snow at the beach.

What's wrong with that picture? Hopefully it will go onto the ocean instead. And miss us all together. That's what usually happens.
